Fifteen Wilton residents
May Peters
I made a submission on behalf of the Association about the proposed reserve classifications.
Tony Chisholm and I organised a meeting on rubbish collection and private ways on 26 May. There were about 100 people at the meeting. Council essentially wanted to stop collecting rubbish, both recyclables and yellow bag rubbish, from private ways. They have backed off from this and, provided private way owners meet some conditions, collection is continuing.
Tony Hurst took part in a workshop on the Town Belt (need open spaces, need to stop chipping it away, treaty issues, local body legislation required)
We have $308.44 in the bank account.
Tribute was paid to Jock Fleming. Jock Fleming, who was a member of our committee for several years, died during 2011. Jock was the Founding Chairman of the Otari-Wilton's Bush Trust and one of the Wilton track builders, amongst many other things.
Topics discussed included parking; possible meeting with DHB or Regional Council; Council grant; why no warning lights outside Otari School; Bowling Club renewal; Civil Defence Centre in Wilton (see report below).

Notes Civil Defence Centre (Roger Crimp's report)
1: The Role of Civil Defence Centres
According to the Civil Defence Web sites the role of a Civil Defence Centre is to collect information about the impact of an emergency in their suburb and report this information to their local city or district council emergency management office. Civil Defence Centres do not carry food, water, equipment or other resources to be handed out to the general public - that is not their purpose.
Civil Defence Centres are activated by volunteers and they are located in primary schools or other community buildings like community centres.
2: Civil Defence Centres near Wilton
Otari School is not a Civil Defence Centre.
